Thirty mornings of freedom

One short reading each morning for thirty days: a verse, a simple thought, a Greek word, a question, a prayer and one small freedom step. It follows the teachings on this site, chapter by chapter.

Which thirty days?

No rules here. If you miss a day, just pick back up. Every email has a one-click link to stop.

A taste of Day 1

Set Down the Heavy Backpack

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Matthew 11:28

Picture a kid walking home from school. His backpack is stuffed full. Books, binders, a lunch box, a wet jacket. His shoulders sag. His steps are slow. Then his dad pulls up in the truck. “Here, son. Give me that.” The boy drops the pack in the back. He stands up tall. He can breathe again.

A lot of people carry a backpack like that with God. It is full of rules. Give ten percent or God is mad. Keep the right day or you are in trouble. Pray the right words or it does not count. Do more. Try harder. Never let up.

You may not even know who packed it. Maybe you picked it up as a child. Maybe someone handed it to you with a smile. But it is heavy. And deep down, you are tired.

Jesus sees you. He does not say, “Carry more.” He says, “Come to me.” He does not hand you a longer list. He gives you rest. That is the heart of this whole book. Jesus came to lift the load, not add to it.

Over the next thirty days, we will open the Bible together. We will look at the old laws about tithing and the Sabbath. We will see what Jesus did with them. And we will learn to walk with God as a friend, not as a worker afraid of the boss. So start today with one simple thing. Come to Jesus just as you are. Bring the backpack. Bring the worry. He is not angry with you. He is glad you came.

Word of the Dayanapausis (ἀνάπαυσις): rest. It means a break that lets you breathe again, like sitting down after a long, hard day.
Think About ItWhat rules feel heavy in your walk with God? Who first put them on your back?
PrayJesus, I am tired. I have tried so hard to make You happy with me. Today I hear You say, “Come to me.” So I come. Please take this heavy load and give me Your rest.
Freedom StepWrite down one rule that weighs on you. Fold the paper and set it on a table. Say out loud, “Jesus, I give this to You.”
